2. What does it mean to be a Five Star Resort?
This designation is given to Resorts such as ours that have many of the most desirable amenities at their facility. Amenities such as swimming pools, cabin rentals, organized recreational activities, spacious campsites, comfort stations, laundry facilities, and convenience Store and concession. Our Resort is inspected and rated each year by an independent organization that assesses campgrounds and resorts throughout North America.
3. The nightly cost seems expensive. What is included in my stay?
Wilderness Village Resort does not nickel and dime our Guests, instead all the basics are included in your stay. Each of our sites has water and power. We have two sani-dump stations on-site that are free of charge. Your firewood, pool and hot tub access, showers and some recreational programs are also included. Reminder: Removal of firewood from Wilderness Village property is prohibited and considered theft. Kindly leave the unused portion of firewood on your site for the next camper to use.
4. Can I tent at Wilderness Village?
Yes, the same campsites that can accommodate RVs, can also accommodate tents. There is a maximum of two units (tents and RVs) per site and a charge of $20/night for non-members for an additional tent. For example, a site with two tents would be the nightly rate plus $20+tax for the additional tent. We also request that a name is assigned to each tent for registration purposes.
5. What are some of the vehicle basics I need to know?
The speed limit on Wilderness Village property is 15 km/hr. With so many families, children and pets having fun while exploring our beautiful Resort we want to ensure everyone is kept safe. You can also enjoy access to ATV trails on Crown land directly from Wilderness Village from our Secondary compound, however, ATVs must be trailered to the stagging area from your site.
6. How do I find a site?
We operate on a first-come, first-serve basis while choosing a site. Once you initially check-in at the office, you will go find your site and return to the office to register. You will be given a slip to display in your windshield during your stay.
7. Why are there Resort Patrol Staff?
Our roving Patrol Staff play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety of our Guests. They are also responsible in checking site inventory and enforcing the rules of our Member-owned resort. If you need assistance at any time, after business hours, you can reach our On-Call staff by using the intercom at the main IN gate (red Button), Texting (preferred) the after hours support number or attend a marked security/patrol staff campsite.
8. What are the Quiet Time hours?
To ensure everyone enjoys their stay and their sleep, quiet time starts at 11 PM. Minors under the age of 18 are subject to curfew and must be supervised at an individual site at 11:00 PM. Parents or Guardians are responsible for the conduct of all minors.
10. Why is it against the rules to tie ropes and bungees to trees?
This rule has been around a long time and is consistent with most Campgrounds in the Province of Alberta. This rule has been put in place to help protect our most important asset - our trees. The majority of our trees are spruce, pine and tamarack. A rope or bungee cord will cut through the protective bark and cause the tree to bleed sap. This causes damage to the tree which could increase the risk of disease to the tree and shorten its lifespan. Also, ropes, bungees, tarps and clotheslines tied to trees, negatively impact the visual aesthetics of our beautiful Resort.
11. What are the rules at the Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs?
Rules are clearly posted around the pool and hot tub areas and consistent with most swim facilities. We do NOT have lifeguards on duty. Parents are required to supervise children under the age of 14 at all times, while accessing
the Pools and Hot Tubs. Small children who are not potty trained are required to wear a swim diaper.
12. Why does Wilderness Village only provide split firewood?
We buy our wood from local contractors who have mill equipment that cuts, splits and loads firewood on a conveyor into their commercial truck or trailer. These contractors also sell wood to other campgrounds and customers in the same manner which seems to be preferred because it can be processed and delivered quickly to Wilderness Village.
13. Can we have our friends and family visit us during our stay?
Unfortunately, no. Only registered campers are allowed on Wilderness Village property. If you have friends or family in the area, they will NOT be able to join you during your stay. The privilege of guests is reserved for Members only and also helps us know who is in the park at all times, in case of emergency.
14. Does Wilderness Village have a suggestion box for suggesting ideas?
Yes, we do! It is located at the office to the left of the front door.
